Over the 110 years of its existence, Malevich’s "Black Square" has been the subject of aggressive criticism on numerous occasions. They look for destructive and inhumane content in it, or, on the contrary, deny its content, calling "Square" a means of shocking people. The conceptual ideas, imaginative solutions and graphic presentation techniques of creative projects by teachers and students of Russian and German design schools serve as a theoretical foundation and source of inspiration for designers, artists and culture professionals. As Sogetsu Ikebana School approaches its centennial in 2027, it is important to research the art of Hiroshi Teshigahara, the school’s third headmaster. Hiroshi Teshigahara was born in 1927, the year Sogetsu was founded, and its centenary is a significant event. Facing such a significant milestone in the school’s history, it is important to recall his creative path and research the various directions of his art. The master vividly and conceptually embraced various artistic fields: cinema, ikebana, ceramics, sculpture, landscape architecture, tea ceremony, scenography and calligraphy. This part of article describes the stages of Hiroshi Teshigahara’s creative journey and explorations, the master’s most famous bamboo installations, as well as excerpts from his lectures and books.

Ikenobo — the oldest school of ikebana, which emerged over 550 years ago at a Japanese temple — long existed in Russia as a symbol of refined Eastern exotica. It was perceived as a beautiful but museum-like ritual: mysterious, complex, and detached. However, today we are witnessing a profound transformation. Ikenobo is moving beyond museum aesthetics and becoming a participant in contemporary interior design, engaging in a remarkably vibrant dialogue with Russian reality. The article showcases the possibilities of online and offline learning at the Ikenobo Ikebana School in Russia. It reveals the content of the key points: From exoticism to conscious practice. The evolution of motivation; Adaptation, not assimilation: a dialogue with the local nature; Overcoming geographic isolation through digitalization; Integration into the modern Russian context and a look toward the future.

The article provides an overview of the works presented at the OMMAGE. Masters of the Avant-garde exhibition-contest as part of the WID-2025 International Days of Interior Design in Vladivostok. The exhibition is based on the works of the contest participants and those from the archive of the PKO SDR exhibitions on the subject of Bauhaus and VKHUTEMAS. Many of the formal and aesthetic discoveries of left-wing art and teaching methods developed by avant-garde artists were used in their teaching practices. The "genres" of homages presented in the exhibition-contest are also described: collage, installation, assemblage, object, and ikebana art. The interpretation of the work of the Avant-garde masters who worked in the 1920s, including in Vladivostok, and the continuity of this theme in the Primorsky version of the second wave of the Avant-garde, provide an opportunity to expand the tools for creativity of contemporary authors and university students.

The article reveals various aspects of the theme "homage" and the peculiarities of perception and exhibition of works presented at the Exhibition "Hommage. To the Masters of the Avant-garde", which took place from November 13 to December 12, 2025, at the VVSU Exhibition Center. Organized for the 30th anniversary of the Primorsky Regional Branch of the Union of Designers of Russia under the motto: "Into the Toolkit of the 21st Century Designer", the exhibition pays tribute to the artists of the Russian avant-garde, who created a new aesthetic reality in their works, through the means of art and design. The Russian avant-garde was a unique form of innovative creativity that encompassed various artistic movements. The pedagogical practices of VKHUTEMAS incorporated many of the formal and aesthetic discoveries of left-wing art and the teaching methods developed by avant-garde artists. The main achievement of the avant-garde design schools, VKHUTEMAS and Bauhaus, was the introduction of experimentation and analytical thinking into creativity and pedagogy, as well as the study of basic compositional and structural elements.
